One Way Links That Are Easy To Come By

By Dirk Andersen

Web publishers know that inbound links are the key to better traffic. Links inform search engines, so when you have more inbound links, you become more popular. Higher quality links will move your site up in the keyword search results. Some back links are better than others. One-way links from authoritative sites with a high page rank are the best kind.

Inbound links are vital to improving traffic to your web site. These links improve your site's rank for keyword searches and provide an alternate path for visitors to find you. High traffic authoritative sites provide more valuable links than other sites, therefore most SEO campaigns seek to build high quality, one-way links to your web site.

One of the best and simplest ways to accumulate one-way inbound links to your web site is to list it in web directories. Some of the better ones are the Open Directory Project, Yahoo and the Authority Directory.

The ODP is free to submit, but takes a long time to get reviewed and not all submissions are accepted. Yahoo's directory takes only seven days for review but costs $299 per year. In addition, the fee at Yahoo is non-refundable and acceptance is not guaranteed. The AuthorityDirectory.com charges an annual fee and review is generally completed within a much faster 48 hours, but your site is not guaranteed acceptance there either. However, in most cases the AuthorityDirectory.com will refund the fee if your site is not accepted.

Exchanging links with other sites is a much riskier way of collecting links. If you exchange a link with a banned site, it can hurt your site's popularity or get it banned from a search engine. Google and other search engines have said they are devaluing reciprocal links.

Link-building is an ongoing process that's crucial to ranking highly in the search engines. Link popularity can place your site on the first page of search results or not at all. Inbound links can bring traffic to your site in two different ways: 1) via click-through traffic and 2) via better organic results in search engines.

Submitting your site or blog to a web directory has been and always be a good idea to attain one-way links. Just make sure that the directory you are submitting to, whether it's paid or free, doesn't contain any spammy sites. You want to be in good company. Socialrific.com and the blog directory Blogirific.com are two sites worth the 6 dollar entrance fee. Thanks for the tips!
